TOP Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) official and long serving women development officer, Diane Justus has recently been suspended indefinitely from her portfolio.
SIFF President Willie Lai confirms these to RAW SPORTS.
Mrs. Justus has been facing allegations recently causing the withdrawal of the Women Under 16 team from participating in the OFC Women Championship this year.
“Mrs. Justus has failed again to send the Women youth side to the competition, causing a last minute setback,” SIFF President told RAW SPORTS.
Mrs. Justus faced these allegations claimed against her in numerous occasions, failing the Women teams from participating in regional competitions in the past.
“She will be facing a indefinite suspension, prior to these charges and the federation will later confirm any development to the issue,” Lai said.
According to SIFF President, the withdrawal from the competition was due to the late submission of the team’s passport, which the development officer took the blame.
RAW SPORTS understands that earlier the women Under 19 side was also unfortunate to take part in Under 19 OFC Women Championship due to similar issue.
“It is unfortunate we withdrew our U19 women team earlier this year and then again this U16 but purely based on management incompetency.”
The country’s U-16 women’s team have twice appeared in the U-16 OFC championship and claimed the runner up position in 2010, whist this year was to be their third attempt.
Following the withdrawal of Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea from the tournament, Group A was left with five teams and Group B with just three
Attempts to contact Mrs. Justus for comments were futile.
SIFF’s incurrence would likely face penalties based on their decision to withdraw from the championship. However, SIFF President has opted to resolve the issue with the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) from such.
