SOLOMON Islands men’s rugby league 9s squad will be concentrating more on the communication skills of their athletes as they prepare for the 2019 Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa.

Andrew Peter Mareko said effective communication in our scheduled preparation trainings is an absolute essential trait that my boys need to polish up before the upcoming Pacific Games competitions.

“The only vital area, the team needs to look more closely is on communication. The importance of communication within the team cannot be understated. Why it is so important for us to be able to communicate effectively is because communication can eventually improve performance on the field against top pacific opponents at the Games.

“The importance of communication in rugby is clear for us to understand. Teams that promote positive communication and respect among players improve overall motivation,” he added.

He said they are now confident with their preparations to compete at the Pacific Games.

“We have a positive mind set in our initial preparations for the Pacific Games in Samoa. We are 100% ready to compete. I feel confident that the team is ready to compete at the Games.

The Pacific Games will be held from the 7th to the 20th of July next year.
