Osifelo Likely To Wear Armband

Sammy Osifelo on the verge to captaincy

With the unavailability of first choice skipper Elliot Ragamo for the Asia bound Solomon Islands National futsal team, Sammy Osifelo is likely to take up the responsibility leading the Oceania champions in the 5th Asian Indoor games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
National head coach, Jerry Sam revealed that Osifelo likely to be given the armband as one of the senior players with experience in the indoor code.
“Hopefully Sammy will lead the team. I’m yet to come up with the decision for whom to take the responsibility. But yes, Sammy is a senior player with wealthy experience in the game and likely he will be given the leading role,” Sam said.
Osifelo lead the Kurukuru against an impressive Under 17 futsal side in their friendly match on Thursday, which saw the senior side securing a 5-2 win.
Inspirational Kurukuru captain, Ragomo has made his mark in the Liga Nacional de Futsal in Brazil playing professionally thus has left the captain role vacant.
Nevertheless, Ragomo has yet shown his full support towards team.
“My heart will always be with Kurukuru. At this stage, it is an important stage for my personal career and myself. I am becoming a professional futsal player. It is my dream comes true. I’ll take it one step at a time”, Ragomo said in a recent interview.
Kurukuru will play another friendly match before heading for the 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, as head coach Jerry Sam stated that this would be new challenge for his young side with little knowledge of the Asian teams.
