Hockey U18 Prepares For Youth Olympic Qualifier

Players were picked from the High School Hockey league

Solomon Islands national hockey under 18 both boys & girls are in preparations for the upcoming Oceania Men’s and Women’s Continental Qualification Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG) next year 23-29 April.

The 12-team qualifying tournament for both men and women shall consist of two 2 national teams per continent plus the host country.

Hockey head coach, Allen Temoa told RAW SPORTS that trainings started off this week with separate days for both genders.

“We kicked off our trainings on Monday, and will continue throughout the weeks with each days allocated for both the boys and girls,” Temoa confirmed.

He adds that through these trainings a final squad will be released on February 2018.

“We are looking forward to compete and qualify for the Olympic games next year.

Temoa also said that majority of the players were picked from the High school hockey league.

The 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games is set to take place from 6th – 8th October 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
