Govt Allocate 3M For 6th Solo Games Facilities


    It has been revealed that the National Government through the Ministry of Home Affairs, has allocated a total of 3 million dollars for the construction of a multi sports facility for next year’s 6th Solomon Games host province, Renbell.
    In an interview with RAW SPORTS, Permanent Secretary, George Palua stated that the allocated money is to assist the provincial government for the construction and infrastructure of sports facilities.
    “The government has assisted the Renbell provincial government for the construction of multi sports stadium to cater the total of 12 sports during the games.
    “At the moment we will monitor the progress of the sports facilities, and the province has yet to appoint a organising committee hopefully by early next year,” Palua said.
    Speaking during the opening of the Avaiki netball inter-ward championship, Deputy Premier Bernard Taungaika stated that the games be hosted by the province and his executive is certain about it.
    “Our Government is advertising the position of sports and youth director and we hope to fill in the position by the end of this year.
    “In recruiting the officer, we intend to establish a provincial sports council, who will work closely with their provincial sport association and their federation.
    “Our Government is committed in the area of sports and we hope to host a successful one.
    Meanwhile, the permanent secretary revealed that more funding be allocated towards the national competition next year.
