Solomon Island Golf Federation (SIGF) currently confirmed only four athletes who will be participating in the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.
Speaking to RAW SPORTS, SIGF Vice President, Lionel Kiara said that these athletes comprised of 2 females and 2 males.
“We wanted to send a whole team which will consist of six athletes, however we are waiting on NOCSI if any confirmation regarding,” Kiara confirmed.
He added that SIGF would be also sending a development side to participate including senior athletes.
“By this week we should get confirmation from NOCSI if we should send a whole team to the games.
“So far our trainings continue intensively taking part in the competitions currently underway.
The vice president also adds that according to the regional criteria senior golf athletes from participating countries were to compete, however Solomon Islands wants to send in a developing team counting on their energetic athletes to gain experience.
Honiara Golf club every Sunday hosted the Heineken International Match Play Championship where the athletes also do their fundraisings in build up towards the regional event.
