Solomon Islands national sevens team will commence their preparation next month, for the upcoming 7s competitions set to begin later in March and April, as Fiji plays host.
The Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation (SIRUF) has drafted a 28 man training squad in time for a busy calendar ahead this year.
Kicking off this year’s schedule of competitions, the 7s squad will be taking part in the SOLTUNA 7s competition and the Marist 7s competition hosted in Fiji.
In a statement SIRUF confirmed the 7s team participation in the competitions.
“The team will be going to Fiji on March 12, and it will be the first time for SIRUF to host a National Tournament outside of the country,” a statement from the rugby governing body confirms.
The Marist 7s will begin on the 23rd and 24th of March.
SIRUF is looking to maintain the coaching team that took part in Oceania 7s and the Van 2017 Pacific Games.
“All selected players are encourage to do personal trainings and fitness before the squad preparation starts on 12th February.
