48 In Athletics Training Squad

A total of 48 track athletic athletes have been named in the training squad in build up towards this year’s Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.
These were according to athletics head coach, Francis Manioru in a brief interview with RAW SPORTS.
Inclusions of mostly young athletes were drawn in the training squad.
“We want to prepare these young athletes for the future, give them experience a taste of exposure,” Mr. Manioru stated.
He said that by building these young athletes they could look forward for many competitions ahead.
“There’ll be lots of competitions coming up, and these young people now can gain experience in training and if they should fit in the final squad,” Manioru said.
However, there will be a total of 16 athletes to be selected out of the 48, to represent the country in the upcoming Mini games.
“By the end of September we will finalize the final team of athletics to take part in the regional event.”
For athletics it will 16 athletes and two officials to make up the contingent for the Mini games.
Top athletics athletes are looking forward for more medals in the event, the likes of Sharon Firisua and Patrick Kam who both recently won medals in the Oceania Athletics Championship in Fiji.
Mr. Manioru also claimed that Rosefelo Siosi is yet to return to top form.
Meanwhile, the Pacific Mini game is scheduled to be held in Port Vila, Vanuatu in December.
