Yesterday two Solomon Islands team played and one on the international level while the other in the regional level.
Indeed, the Solomon Islands flair of football and futsal was evident as two teams in different football codes gather admiration from local fans and oversea fans.
For the national U17 men’s team, it was their fighting spirit and never give up attitude that earned respect from many football fans including their opponents. The team competed well with one of Europe’s top football nation and although they lost, there were plenty of positives to take from the game.
Raphael Le’ai, Leon Kofana and Davidson Malam stamped their marks on international level and this also will be a motivational factor for their fellow team mates to do the same.
Over to Noumea, New Caledonia, the OFC futsal qualifiers saw defending Oceania champions, Kurukuru smashed one of the contenders, Tahiti in a thrilling match which concluded 7:2 in favour of Kurukuru.
Experience Anthony Talo proved his value in the Kurukuru team when he impressed onlookers with his mesmerising saves and counter attacking set ups.
Inspirational captain, Elliot Ragomo continued his awesome form and led the team to the much anticipated victory.
Indeed, the Solomon Islands flair was on show to the world internationally and regionally. Football and futsal fans around town are excited and looking forward to both team’s next matches.
